2018 GECC Multicultural Festival


DAY 1: Saturday 16th June 2018 – Maltese History & Culture –  Showcasing 40 years of LV Maltese Community Centre history & culture. A peek at the Museum site with miniature model displays, cooking demonstration, lace making, traditional Maltese Pastizzi, other food and drinks.  Free Entry. Visit LV Maltese Community Centre, cnr Henry Street & Grant Street, Morwell. 10.00am to 4pm approx.

DAY 2: Sunday 17th June 2018 – 9th GECC Multicultural Festival 

Multicultural parade, performers, food, stalls, entertainment.  Free Event. Kernot Hall, Morwell.  Family day. Please wear traditional or cultural dress.  10.30am to 3.30pm approx.

Sunday 17th June 2018:  

Performers:  Sale RSL Pipe Band, Mel Pollard (Artist/Guitar), Super Mande Percussion (African drums/dance), Traditional Thai Dance, Kinloch Trio (bagpipes, violin, guitar), Rose Simonsen (Chinese & Muslim dance), Ruby Tindog (Singer), Greek Dancers (Pegasus Dance Academy), Beyond Nirvana Music Aus (Bollywood singers), Ati-Atihan (SPAG, Filipino group).

Food:  German Sausage Hut (Bratwurst, Curry Bratwurst, Cheese Kransky); My Kitchen Flavours (kebab, falafel food, chips, briyani); Filipino Stall (BBQ meats, native Filipino food, sweets , puto); Neighbourhood Watch BBQ (Australian sausages, drinks), Cafe2U (coffee and hot drinks), Chey-de-Bakes (cupcakes, slices, cookies, cake truffles, etc.).

MULTICULTURAL PARADE at 12.30pm in front of Kernot Hall

DAY 1 is on the eve of REFUGEE WEEK, DAY 2 is on the first day of REFUGEE WEEK.
